asked for it, and they got it. The peasants working for the Global
Liberation Army got the shoes they demanded.

Zero Hour, the sequel to the first Command &
Conquer Generals, brings the same level of visual graphics to the
original and adds more variations to the strategies available. The
devious GLA now has 3 different generals that specialize in different
arenas of destruction. The research staff working for the GLA has
devoted their efforts into making toxins, and came out with more
destructive results. Toxins now line every piece of equipment and
men. Or if the bio-weaponry is not your style, try stealth. Choosing
another GLA general will cloak certain troops and buildings. Attack
from vantage point and burst from no where. Or choose the extremely
damaging burrowing option. Create an instant hole deep inside the
enemy’s base and pour your troops through the tunnels.

Like the other nations instead? The U.S. employs
a super-weapon general, allowing cheaper energy cannon to devastating
effect. Or how about the missile general, which gives you nasty
anti-air defenses as well as anti-personnel options? The Chinese
have always had superior numbers on their side. Increase the numerical
supremacy with the Chinese infantry general. Have all of your guys
run all over the place. An Australian friend likes the “flying
fortress of death”, a helicopter that can carry several rocketeers
to shoot from the air. You get this flying fortress option with
the Chinese air general. You will simply have to play the game to
try out the other options and variations.

Overall, the game is quite fun as an addition to
the original game. The graphics and sound remain superb. As a single
player, the new scenarios are quite hard. The game is not designed
for the single player, and the game truly shines in multiplayer
mode. While on my vacation, my Australian friend and I found Internet
gaming centers that would be able to handle C&C Generals, Zero
Hour. We were known to reject and ignore gaming centers that did
not carry this title. The hours of mayhem were a very memorable
part of the trip. The drawback, naturally, was the heavy computational
requirements of the game. This same problem hobbled the original
Generals game.
