"Where have you been? I haven't seen you in months."
"Well boss", I said, "I had to answer
the call..."
Call to Duty, one of the latest in the World War
II first person shooters genre, is a beautifully put together game:
the graphics are top notch, the story lines (althouth short) carry
you through a variety of missions, and the sounds are life like
and extremely un-nerving.

Although the game uses the same commands, weapon
layouts, movement types, of most first person shooters, Call of
Duty does a fine job of integrating
prone movement and object climbing within a fast-paced shoot-em-up
enviroment. Jumping is a little more realistic than most. Which
means no more one hopping 10' trenches while carrying a full layout
and two weapons. Above the norm: there are two types of aiming methods:
firing from the hip allows for quick aquisition of targets while
the aim through the sites mode give you a little zoom bonus. And,
unlike most FPS, this game allows for shooting (and receiving fire)
while 'peeking'.

The single player missions are relatively short
and the game must load information after each mission, but players
are rewarded with exceptional looking, fast action, graphics. The
sound quality is exceptional. I use a 4 speaker plus subwoofer setup
that had my roomates freaking out and running for cover (not recommended
for a peaceful household). Imagine being part of the action in your
favorite war movie and you'll have some idea on what playing this
game is like.
Mulitplayer? I gotta go... um... its an emergency...
yeah... emergency...
