The
usual suspects showed up for Gaming Night on Saturday night. In
order of appearance, Bunny (well, she does live there), BunnysFan,
Mischief, KrazyKarl, Poison, BadKitty, Pisser (finally), and Starfury
(believe it or not since he doesn't really like CounterStrike).
Dinner was at our perennial
second favorite place aka the backup site. What a surprise, they
didn't mess up our names or take forever on an order. Of course
seating was a bit of a difficulty on account of our injured Bunny.
Gaming was a complete
night of CounterStrike. I think we had three different servers during
the night, Pisser, Poison, and BadKitty. I do remember the night
being interrupted with a server that had friendly fire disabled.
We had just started the Poison server and we played completely through
a couple of maps. Something was amiss as we noticed that no one
had committed the 'shooting teammate' violation for the Jar Of Shame.
After a deliberate attack on a teammate we discovered the friendly
fire problem -- as a result, that server was abandoned and BadKitty
started hers. We played and played and played. Thanks to Daylight
Savings Time, we even had an extra hour.
Happy Halloween. Sunday
night was Diablo 2 and trick or treaters. The rule that allowed
us to play D2 was that if anyone came to the door, then KrazyKarl
would be the one who had to get up and pass out candy -- a task
that he performed admirably. Well, except for the time when he replenished
the bowl of candy with Pisser's special golden chocolate treats.
We did have a little trouble with D2 when KK was hosting us on his
Mac that he brought from home and plugged into the network. But
then we switched to Pisser as the server and miraculously him and
I were able to hit targets and open doors again. Well, most of our
problems were solved except for the inevitable "Mother F'er"
when Pisser's computer decided to have issues. At which point both
KK and myself would quickly save our characters in case the server
went down.
And finally, our second
night (which may also have been our last night) of Neverwinter Nights
went off smoothly. This took place last Thursday night and the people
who actually played had no problems at all. Yours truly figured
out that if you hold your mouse over a party member's portrait,
then you could see the name of the level they are in. Now we could
always know where everyone was. The autosave was set less frequently
so there were fewer interruptions. And everyone was more familiar
with their characters and the way the game worked so we had a lot
of fun. Of course most of the night it was just Mischief and TomW
since StealBlade had a meeting and who knows what Pisser was doing.
All in all it has been
a busy week of gaming. Let's hope it continues.
